Etsy Craft Party

I was asked to participate in a fun mini pre-event at Etsy for their recapturing old photographs themed craft party. Two other NYC based sellers (Harp and Thistle and Mawusi) and myself were invited to choose a photograph which Etsy printed out on Spoonflower fabric. Then we all met up at Etsy HQ in Dumbo to work on our projects and eat snacks! You can read Etsy's blog post about it here.

The image I chose was a photograph of a neon acrylic/watercolor painting I completed for the Brooklyn Art Library's Penpal Painting Exchange. Here's the work in progress:

We took a photo together after we finished our embroidery pieces in their photo booth. Strangely it didn't work so we tried again and ended up with this amazing doubly exposed image! Couldn't have planned it better.

This was all leading up to Etsy's big Craft Party event that they held in Dumbo. I went with my friend Rob and they provided you with a vintage photograph of complete strangers, four colors of embroidery floss, and a needle. Here are the masterpieces that Rob and I made, mine is on the right.

And some closeups!

Etsy x AIGA Event

I was recently asked to do the decor for an AIGA event hosted by Etsy at The Wooly. I had patches as giveaways and made tablecloths in a variety of my prints for the coffee tables. I also provided a background for the event's photo booth hosted by The Bosco. I took some photos of the inside of the venue but it was super dark in there but you sort of get the idea.

Custom Projects

I've been working on some custom orders lately. It's always exciting when I get an email from someone who's super pumped about something I've made in the past that I don't make anymore, an older fabric I have "retired", or a new fabric that they want something made out of. That's when custom orders happen!

This time I was contacted by two people, one guy from San Fran wanted a matching 3D glasses backpack and t-shirt to wear at Coachella. Him and his friends all wear yellow shirts on Friday so keep an eye out for these beauties if you'll be there.

Another California based individual wanted a meat print backpack but I've been getting requests for a lot of them lately so I made an extra which is available in the Mokuyobi Threads Etsy shop!

I made the tee a Unisex Medium so it's a bit big on me, but you get the idea.

Tri-color Pillows

I've been planning to make some new stuff for a while but business things always get in the way.  I made these three coordinating prints and made them each into a throw pillow with coordinating cotton fabric on the backside.  They are available in the Etsy shop.  I only made one of each and probably won't be making more.  They are fun as a set but can be bought individually.  Enjoy the pictures!

Mini 5 Panel Cat Hat

I made a miniature 5 panel hat a while ago as a part of a plush for a show at Gallery 1988.  See the post here.  One day I was feeling very excited about a new fabric print I ordered and decided to make another mini hat and I found out that Teeny cat is a fantastic hat model!!  Once I posted a photo on instagram it was clear that everyone wants a tiny 5 panel for their cat!  I made a listing on Etsy so now everyone can adorn their pet with a tiny hat or ladies, rock this mini hat by attaching it with some bobby pins!

Photoshoot!

New Colors for Waterproof Pencil Pouch

For the longest time I have been making these teeny 7" x 4" zip pencil pouches and selling them on etsy but I only had the one picture of the royal blue pouch in the listing.  I had all of the other color options but since the only one I showed was the royal blue people pretty much just got that one or they didn't read the description at all and just figured that was they one that was for sale.  I made them to order so I never had more than one to photograph together for the listing to show options.

Well I recently got even MORE amazing colors that I had to extend to the zipper pouch listing so I decided to just make a bunch to actually show peeps how cool they look in other colors too!

Above the pouches are pictured in (top to bottom) berry, mint, royal, and coral.  I can't even pick a fave they all look so good in person and you can use them for pretty much anything: pens/pencils, embroidery thread, money/change, business cards, washi tape, sewing kit supplies, and the list goes on!

Shown above is the original pouch!  I also cut mini swatches of each color and lined them up so it was easier to see the difference instead of just listing the colors and having a picture of only the older ones.  Now it's much clearer, finally!

I'm also selling some of the fabrics (13 total) by the yard on my Etsy as well if you are itching to make something rad for yourself with these crazy cool waterproof coated nylon fabrics.

Buy some fabric and show me your cool projects!  Maybe I'll do a poncho-along... That would be fun!
