Mowgliyobi: The Future of Surf

Mowgliyobi: the best of Mokuyobi and Mowgli combined! With our collaboration line we wanted to do something different (of course) that combined Mokuyobi's design with Mowgli's unique processes.  We all brainstormed together about ideas and pattern/color/shapes. I did a bunch of sketches for t-shirts and shorts and we edited the line down from there.

In addition to the clothes we did a collaboration backpack with an amazing spiral tie dye on nylon and turned it into a big pocket. For our branding I designed a logo which we made into a patch. See below for the entire process of sketches to finals! Available both at Mokuyobi and Mowgli!

Halloween Costume: Zenon Girl of the 21st Century

For Halloween this year I went as a classic throwback, Zenon from the 1999 Disney Channel original movie Zenon Girl of the 21st Century. A moderately easy costume to recreate, I made the blue vest featuring a metallic cap sleeve and a matching skirt as well as a hot pink long sleeve spandex turtleneck shirt. I also made matching metallic scrunchies for her ace half up half down high pigtail hairdo. And the outfit isn't complete without the disk earring which I bought online. If only I had saved my platform sketchers from 7th grade I would have been in business.

Nomiku Tees

I did some t-shirt designs for a rad food centric company/product known as Nomiku. They have had two mega successful Kickstarters and are crushing it in the food world. Check out their fancy and user friendly kitchen gadget here and sous vide your way to a full tummy.

For their first design I did a welcome cat surrounded with happy veggies holding baggies of a meat and fish which were made as a one color line drawing on a blue tee. I also made a special full color digital print version for one of the co-founders.

With the release of their new Nomiku I went all out with a food related all over print! You can snag this awesome tee in their webshop while supplies last.

Mowgli Surf

Mowgli Surf is the coolest surf clothing brand on the planet and you can quote me. They make the most radical tees, tanks, shorts, sweatpants, and more that sport unique hand stamped and air brushed design techniques as well as a variety of dye processes that blow my mind with each new season they roll out with. They are based in California and all of their products are made in the USA. Mowgli is also one of the brands that Without Walls, Urban Outfitter's new fitness/active lifestyle brand carries along with Mokuyobi (see previous post). The two Mowgli co-founders are actually the nicest dudes I've ever met so prepare yourselves for a glowing review.

Mowgli is run by dream team identical twin brothers Alex and Philip Seastrom, and yes I know what you're thinking, even their last name gives a nod to Earth's water, can you say destiny? Philip does all of the artwork surrounding their brand with the occasional outside artist thrown in. And can I just say this boy has some talent! All of his artwork perfectly embodies Mowgli's entire aesthetic. Alex being the math and business whiz that he is manages production like a true professional, and Philip is always there to back him up.

You definitely need to be an awesome type of human to rock their gear. Mowgli's slogan, enemy of the average, shows their ease of being individuals and standing out from the crowd which they do so well with literal flying colors. When you throw on a Mowgli tee you can practically feel the wind blowing off of the Pacific Ocean and through your sun streaked beachy curls with California Love playing in the background.

If that description didn't immediately bring you some strong west coast vibes then I guess I just suck at writing.
